Can you take e-liquids on planes?

Can you take e-liquids on planes?

You can take e-liquids on planes, provided you follow specific airline regulations.

Are you a vaper setting off to an exotic holiday destination? Perhaps you’re flying out for business and need a fully-stocked supply of e-liquids to keep you in top form.

In that case, you’re probably wondering what the law says. Packaging recommendations and legality may differ depending on where you are and where you’re heading.

But knowing more about the overseas transportation of vape supplies will save you a lot of hassle. Security and check-in will be a breeze, provided you’ve followed the airport’s rules.

Plan your journey with Juicemate, and there should be no roadblocks.

How much e-liquid can you take on a plane?

In the UK, government guidelines state that each e-liquid should contain no more than 100ml.

Airports limit the amount of liquids you can carry in your hand luggage due to terror plots, meaning UK passengers must carry all their liquids in a transparent, resealable bag. This rule goes for e-liquids and refills, too.

When packing your shampoo and body wash, leave room for your vape juice. Your transparent bag of liquids should then be placed in your hand luggage, not in any suitcase stored in the hold.

But why do your e-liquids need to be in your hand luggage? Well, this is so that you can access them easily when you go through security.

No one wants to hold up the line because they’re busy rummaging through their suitcase: remember to put them in your hand luggage and keep things moving smoothly.

Can you take e-cigarettes on a plane?

If you’re spend so much time reading up on e-liquid regulations, you’ll likely need a vape tank to smoke them with! Like e-liquids, which fall under the UK’s 100ml hand luggage regulations, vape tanks and mods should not be placed in any bag to be stored in the hold.

Instead, you should package them in your hand luggage (they don’t need to go in your liquids bag, however!) Pressurisation changes in the plane’s cargo mean that your tank may be susceptible to leaks or cracks, so storing it in your hand luggage will prevent this.

If you’re taking an e-cigarette that has yet to be used, keep it in the packaging and open it once you’re there (if you can resist the temptation!) However, if you’re taking an e-cigarette you’ve already used, empty any remaining liquid out.

Again, this is so that pressurisation in the cabin does not cause your tank to leak.
