Kathryn Joosten

The actress Kathryn Joosten was a smoker from the age of 16 and was diagnosed with lung cancer later on in life. She quit smoking after the diagnosis, but the tumour spread to her other lung. She died at the age of 72 due to smoking-related cancer. 

Nat King Cole

The music legend, Nat King Cole, smoked from a very young age and chain-smoked until he died. He passed away due to a lung tumour, which was caused by smoking.  

Dean Martin 

Dean Martin was a lifelong smoker, and he was diagnosed with lung cancer as a result. He gave up smoking after his diagnosis, however, he passed away 2 years later due to respiratory problems. 

Carl Wilson

Carl Wilson, a member of the Beach Boys, passed away due to lung and brain cancer after a year-long battle. Wilson had heavily smoked since the age of 14 and continued to do so until his death.

King George VI

King George VI was the king of England during WW2 and was the father of the current Queen of England. The king was a heavy smoker, and as a result got lung cancer, which caused his death in 1952.

Claude Monet, one of the most famous artists of the 20th century, was a well-known chain smoker who loved tobacco. He died due to lung cancer, after decades of smoking.  

Fritz Von Erich

Fritz Von Erich was a famous sportsman, who was a 23-time world champion and a record 20-time WCWA Champion. For much of his life, the wrestler was a heavy smoker, which led to him developing brain and lung cancer. This was the cause of his death in 1997.
